She truly loves teaching music and aims to encourage each of her students to be their own best musicians and their best selves!

Melissanthi is a vocal instructor specializing in operatic and classical performance. She has been immersed in music since she was 3 years old, and recently graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in music. She has performed in various professional productions, including the Berlin Opera Academy’s and the Piedmont Opera’s The King and I. She also teaches and performs as a competitive Greek folk dancer, which has broadened her understanding of music across diverse cultures.

Melissanthi’s teaching style is rooted in compassion and non-judgment. Above all, she wants her students to feel safe and happy, as music-making inherently makes one feel vulnerable. She emphasizes anatomical understanding through metaphor, which forms the underpinning of both vocal technique and emotional expression in song. She also wants to meet her students where they’re at. She’s willing to adapt repertoire and lesson plans to fit each student’s individual needs. She’s really looking forward to making music with you!
